Beitou Public Library

As you step out of the MRT station and begin the walk up the road, the first thing you will probably notice is the huge Noah’s Ark built in the middle of a park. The ark is, in fact, Taipei’s first ‘green’ library, and a significant piece of architecture in the development of the former ‘Factory of the World’.

The building was constructed largely of timber and is powered by solar panels. The roof is slanted to allow for capture of rainwater, that is then used to water the plants and flush the toilets. There are some books inside, too!

If you are passing by for a hot spring, you won’t find a nicer place in the city to relax and read a book or surf the net.
