Rafting on the Xiuguluan River is a day long jaunt through some of the fantastic scenery of the Coastal Mountain Range. The river, running alongside the spectacular to drive Ruigang road, features light rapids and a wide, twisty river adventure.
The trip is split in two, and lunch is provided when you reach the halfway point. The first half of the trip is relaxing, so just sit back and enjoy the scenery as the second half is a bit faster with more rapids. The rapids are generally class 2 or 3 unless there has been a lot of rain or a typhoon recently.
Safety is paramount, and all necessary equipment is supplied as well as a thorough safety briefing (in Chinese) don’t worry, they will make sure someone translates if you need it. Accident insurance is mandatory and provided.
You can arrange transport from Hualien as part of a package with the rafting company. This is a good option because it saves you having to take the bus (provided by company, $150NT) back to Ruisui after the rafting.
