Yeliu GeoPark

Whether you’re interested in geology or not, the Yeliu GeoPark is definitely worth a stop. It’s an amazing place to view Mother Nature’s artistic side. With suitably named formations like mushroom rocks, honeycomb rocks, pothole erosion and candle stick rocks, the park holds interests for young and old alike.

The most famous by far is “Queen’s Head Rock,” a stone shaped by wind and water erosion to actually resemble a queen’s silhouette of old. It’s often used by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in advertising… Find it by looking for the long line of tourists waiting to have their picture taken in front of it.

If you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet, walk down the trails towards the end of the cape. A few rare species of birds can be found in the right seasons, and very few of the package tourists can be bothered with the walk.
